A number of global entertainment and technology executives will speak at this year’s APOS, Asia’s influential media industry conference.
With the Asia-Pacific region continuing to be an exceptionally bright spot for the growth of the streaming industry, the Singapore event will host a wide range of presentations and discussions that collectively aim to take the pulse of the global streaming business. Topics include the sustainability of streaming, the rapid growth of premium Asian content, the future impact of the metaverse, the battle for sports rights, the scalability of premium AVOD, and more.
This week’s speakers include: Kevin Mayer, CEO of Candle Media; Minyoung Kim, head of content at Netflix APAC; Kelly Day, International on Amazon Prime Video; Gerhard Seiler, president of Warner Bros. Discovery International; Paramount Europe and Asia boss Mark Specht and former Disney APAC chairman Uday Shankar, now James Murdoch’s partner at investment firm Marigold Park.
Managed by regional consultancy Media Partners Asia, APOS has traditionally been run in a high-end resort in Bali, Indonesia. But after two years of online-only meetings during the pandemic, the event will move to Singapore in 2022. The conference will take place September 27-29 at the city-state’s luxurious Capella Resort. While APOS’ focus this year is the industry’s return to a physical live event, the show will maintain pandemic-era digital convenience and attendance will also be available to remote attendees via webcast.
Executives representing major tech media interests, including the regional and global leaders of Google, YouTube, Meta and Amazon, will also be involved in the collusion, as will the heads of regional companies such as Indian giant Reliance Jio, Studio Dragon of Korea South, Australian Foxtel. Sky New Zealand, India’s Zee Entertainment, Telkom Indonesia and others.
The MPA says it will announce additional speakers and the full APOS program in the coming weeks.
