In the past few hours, some rather unexpected news has arrived: In fact, Warner Bros. has canceled the Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace in the role of Barbara Gordon.
The film, which is now in the post-production phase and for which a budget of 90 million dollars has been allocated, will not make it to HBO Max, the streaming platform where it was first conceived, or to the cinema. And it seems that Warner’s desire to make feature films based on DC Comics characters and intended only for the cinema is the reason for the cancellation of the project that, as already mentioned, was born from the idea of creating products for HBO Max. platform.
Always according to what is reported, therefore, the cancellation is not due to quality problems, but to the change of direction of Warner Bros, not before the sudden change in strategies related to films based on DC characters Comics.
Batgirl, now in post production, has been in production since 2021. Directed by Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arb, known for Ms Marvel and Bad Boys for Life, Batgirl will star Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl, JK Simmons returning as Commissioner James Gordon, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne / Batman, and Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly.
