The new episodes of Pretty Little Liars: A New Sin (2022), a reboot of the 2010s teen series, left an important question for fans: the drama series takes place in the same universe as riverdale (2017)?

The sixth episode of the series HBO Maxentitled as ‘Scars’shows the characters of Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles and Maia Reficco following new leads to unmask “A”, stalker mystery that threatens them to pay for their parents’ sins, and the possible connection between the shows.
During the interrogation of Eddie Lamb (a character that was also part of the original series in 2010), the protagonists discover that several patients in the Radley Sanitarium in rosewood were sent to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy in riverdalethe same home for “troubled youths” run by a group of corrupt nuns featured in the series CW.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasaexecutive producer of the series, told TVLine that he would like to unite the two universes, but figured he was not allowed to refer to riverdale. However, the writers managed to reference the series, which is now set in the Archie Comics.
In addition to the easter egg among teen dramas, the producer commented on the idea of Alex Aionowhich interprets Shawnto create a rivalry between each city’s high school football teams, known as the Millwood High Steppenwolfs and the Riverdale Bulldogs.
I would love for there to be a football game between them. Who knows, though. If we go any further, I don’t even know how far we’d be allowed to take the shared universes. Would be great.
Nonetheless, Lucy Hale can get in the way of fans’ desire for a crossover. The actress starred Pretty Little Liars (2010) as Aria Montgomery and also played the title role in Katy Keene (2020), a direct spin-off of riverdale.
Despite the controversy, it seems that the producer Aguirre-Sacasa is willing to go ahead with the idea of crossing teen drama and suspense stories.
