Gorillaz ‘goes to India’ in the new album ‘The Mountain’; See details and listen to single

Ninth studio album of the Virtual Band arrives on March 20, 2026 and brings participation of idles, Sparks, Johnny Marr, Bizarrap and more

THE Gorillaz He announced details of his next studio album. The Mountainninth group album and first through their own new Kong seal, it reaches public on March 20, 2026.

The inaugural single of the album, “The Happy Dictator”has the participation of the duo Sparks. Check on the websitealso with access to Visualizer Video.

Described as “an expansive sound landscape of instruments and sounds, richly composed of surrounding voices, melodies and beats”, The Mountain It has 15 unreleased tracks. As usual, there are a number of participation and collaborations. The list includes:

Produced by Gorillaz with James Ford, Samuel Egglenton and Remi Kabaka Jr.in addition to Bizarrap (Orange County), The Mountain It was recorded at Studio 13 in London and Devon; in various locations in India, including Mumbai, New Déli, Rajasthan and Varanasi; As with Ashgabat, Damascus, Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The album features artists singing in five languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish and Yoruba.

The art of The Mountainsigned by the visual artist Jamie Hewlettillustrates the band’s world through a series of hand -drawn images that portray Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D During his time in India working on the new album. It will be available both as a book and a collection of 12 × 12 impressions. See the following cover.

In a statement, the group explains the idea behind The Mountain:

“Circumstances now put Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, 2D and Noodle in India, having arrived in Mumbai with the help of four false passports provided by a known Murdoc business in New York. The band turned its back on the international pop star, with our heroes now immersed in the rhythms of mystical musical creation, while navigating the mountain terrain called life. ”

Gorillaz drummer Russel Hobbs said:

“As a dust of space, we are here forever, and this is a huge time. This is a musical meditation impregnated with light. A journey of the soul, with beats…”

Gorillaz’s next tour

The announcement also comes with the news of The Mountain Tourwhich will visit arenas through the UK and Ireland in 2026, with opening of Trien on selected dates. The tour follows the exhibition HOUSE OF KONG and four shows at Copper Box Arena, including a performance that anticipated The Mountain.

The excursion will start on Manchester on March 21, 2026, with dates in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Nottingham, Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin; In addition to a unique show as the main attraction at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with opening of Sparks and Trueno.
