Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon announced Monday (August 15) that A$AP Rocky has been charged with an alleged shooting in Los Angeles in November 2021.
The rapper, born Rakim Myers, faces an assault charge with a semiautomatic firearm on a personal firearm charge. “Firing a gun in a public place is a serious crime that can have tragic consequences not only for the person it is pointed at, but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” Gascón said in a press release. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of the special firearms charge was warranted.”
The rapper will appear in court on Wednesday (August 17).
Rock was arrested by LAPD in connection with the November 6 shooting in Hollywood and released on $550,000 bond. An argument between the rapper and his acquaintance escalated, as a result of which Rocky allegedly fired a semi-automatic weapon. The victim suffered minor injuries, he said. KTLA.

In 2019, Rock was arrested and charged with assault in Sweden, with prosecutors claiming he punched, kicked and attacked the victim with a bottle. He spent nearly five weeks behind bars before being released, although he was later found guilty.
The rapper and Rihanna welcomed their first child, a boy, on May 13. The couple started dating in 2020, and the “Umbrella” singer announced her pregnancy in January.
