Wednesday Showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough say the Addams Family series, directed by Tim Burton, is a “thing of its own,” which we hope will look like a longer film in the acclaimed filmmaker’s back catalogue.

Millar noted that when it came to the story, it was important that the show “not feel like a remake or a reboot”. Instead, his ambition “was to make an eight-hour Tim Burton movie”.
“It’s something that lives in a Venn diagram that’s happened before, but it’s doing its job,” he continues. “It’s not trying to be a ’60s movie or TV show. It was very important to us and very important to Tim.”

As part of the interview, the co-creators also teased appearances by several characters in the Addams Family, with one notable absence: Uncle Fester. Millar and Goff say his presence remains a mystery.
“We have no comment on Uncle Fester,” says Gough. “Look at the program.”
