Marisa Monte launches “Sua Onda” with two-time Oscar-winning producer, Gustavo Santaolalla

New song brings together trio of Brazilian composers and award-winning producer in remote recording with Hungarian orchestra

Marisa Monte launched “Your Wave”new song that will premiere on the tour Phonics. The track is the result of a partnership with Carlinhos Brown and Arnaldo Antunesproduced by Argentine musician and producer Gustavo Santaolallaholder of two awards Oscar.

The composition was created in 2024 in the south of Bahia, facing the sea. Marisa Monte chose the song specifically to include new material on the tour Phonicsfulfilling the desire to collaborate again with Santaolallathis time as producer. The pair had previously worked on the show Los Maestros Caféand Santaolalla played acoustic guitars on the track “Fortunately” of Marisa.

The production of “Your Wave” it involved remote recording in three different locations. Gustavo Santaolalla worked from Los Angeles, Marisa Monte recorded in Rio de Janeiro and Budapest Scoring Orchestra recorded his parts in a studio in Hungary. Santaolalla was responsible for the arrangement, suggested the Hungarian orchestra and played most of the instruments on the recording.

About the recording process, Marisa Monte stated: “We made a remote recording, he in Los Angeles, me in Rio and the orchestra in a studio in Hungary, in an experience that technology provided us with connection, sharing and tuning.” Gustavo Santaolalla declared himself an admirer of Marisa Monte for many years and that collaborating on his music represents a dream come true. The Argentine producer stated that the Brazilian singer’s compositions, voice and interpretation speak directly to his heart and serve as a constant source of inspiration.

The tour Phonics marks the return of Marisa Monte to the stage with a repertoire that will include the unprecedented “Your Wave” between presentations.
