Considered a masterpiece of the seventh art, the film Amedeo by Miloš Forman, released in 1984, he says the rivalry between Mozart and Antonio Salieri. Several decades after its release, Sky took on the challenge of taking up this story to make it happen a series. This was created by Joe Bartonthe screenwriter to whom we owe in particular Black Doves.

Will Sharpe (The White Lotus) got the role of Mozart in the series Amedeo. Paolo Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War) was chosen to lend his features to Antonio Salieri. And he was entrusted with the role of Constanze Mozart, the wife of the Austrian genius Gabrielle Crevy (Black Doves). Last August, sky shared some photos from the series. A few months later, the British channel put it online its first teaser.

The teaser ofAmedeo shows us a party-loving Mozart and who seems to take everything lightly. On the other hand, Antonio Salieri appears jealous of his ability. And the Venetian composer seems to have a plan to tarnish the prodigy’s reputation: “Diminish man and you diminish God”.

The show created by Joe Barton is set in the late 18th century. No longer under his father’s control, Mozart arrived in Vienna at the age of 25 with the firm intention of forging his own destiny. Meeting Constanze Weber finds an unlikely ally. Together, they will cross the path ofAntonio Salieri, who will change the course of their existence.

Sky will broadcast the series in December

Just like Miloš Forman’s film, the new version ofAmedeo is based on the play of the same name by Peter Shaffer. Its official synopsis promises us a series “original, intimate and irreverent”Who “extends and questions the mythical rivalry between the two men”. His story is presented as “a corrupting symphony of jealousy, ambition and genius”.

The series is divided into five episodes. Sky also revealed that it will be broadcast next December. The channel has not yet provided a more precise date. In France we still don’t know who will broadcast the show created by Joe Barton.
