Although Ben Reilly was originally introduced in 9175 The Incredible Spider-Man # 149 as a clone of Peter Parker, the character did not become a prominent actor in the Marvel Universe until he was reintroduced in the mid-1990s, when it was revealed that he had survived the explosion that would incinerate him.
