What is it about?
Set in the working-class area of Philadelphia, the series follows Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo), FBI agent recruited to lead a federal task force dedicated to breaking up a string of violent “stash house” robberies operated by a motorcycle gang known as the Dark Hearts. On the other side is Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey, Ozarks), a family man who commands robberies and puts the city on alert. The clash between Brandis and Robbie sets the stage for a high-stakes police drama, with difficult moral choices and personal consequences for the entire team.

In addition to Ruffalo and Pelphreythe cast of the series also includes Emilia Jones (CODA), Fabien Frankel (The House of the Dragon), Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King), Raul Castillo (The Inspection), Alison Oliver (Saltburn), between others.
In the end, Task: Special Unit Will there be a second season?
The production was planned as a limited series, with seven episodes and a closed narrative arc. However, the end of the season leaves open the possibility of new developments. To date, HBO has not confirmed a second season of the series.
In an interview with Esquirethe creator Brad Ingelsby stated that he is “open” to the idea of revisiting the series’ universe if there is interest from the public and the cast. The decision, however, will depend on audience results and HBO’s programming strategy.
