This: welcome to Derry shocks spectators upon entry
This: welcome to Derry is a prequel series to the film released in 2017 and adapted from the novel by Stephen King. It takes place in the 60s. His story follows a group of children He lives in the city of Derry, near a US Air Force base which he hosts a mysterious bunker. When one of their friends disappears, the children search for him. But their investigations will lead them to discovery a terrifying phenomenon…
The first episode of This: welcome to Derry it is visible from this Monday 27 October on HBOMax. Its opening sequence starts off very strong, from then on Matty is killed there. Next the group of children is introduced. But at the end of the episode, many of them are probably killed in a chaotic scene at the cinema.
“No one will be safe” in this series
This: welcome to Derry it was created by brothers Andy and Barbara Muschietti. In an interview with The Hollywood journalistthey spoke in the first episode of the show. Andy Muschietti explained that that was the purpose of the first episode “give the audience the impression that if children die at the end of the first episode, nothing is sacred”. And that “In this world no one will be safe”. And he gave another reason for the shocking scene in the cinema:
It also responds to the idea of subverting some aspects. We have already made two films. Since we use the same tone and style as the films, one thing we didn’t want was for people to be too familiar with the mechanics of the story.
As the episode went on, I was worried that IT: WELCOME TO DERRY was playing it too safe and recycling what had previously worked.
Luckily I was wrong and in the end I really showed how nightmarish and unpredictable this story will be.

He even admitted that he wanted it “turn up the volume a little in terms of intensity and spectacularity”. These comments echo those made by the director a few days ago. He admitted he wanted it make an impression from the introductory sceneand convey the message thatno character is safe in the series.
When will Pennywise appear?
As for knowledge if the children are really dead in the film scene, the answer should be a little unclear. Of course they really are. But we’ll have to wait until we can find out the rest of the series to be sure.
With regard to Pennywise himself isn’t expected to appear right away in the series. Andy Muschietti explains that he wanted it increase the impatience around the formidable clown in the first few episodes, before finally showing the tip of his nose.
This: welcome to Derry is divided into nine episodes. After the premiere aired, a new episode will be released every week, until Monday 22 December. Recall that Andy Muschietti wants to continue the series, as he wants to give it three seasons in everything.
