Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg married former NBC News producer Tom Bernthal on Saturday.
The couple, who got engaged in February 2020 after dating the previous year, duly announced the news on Instagram. They each posted the same photo of them holding hands in the woods, with Sandberg briefly captioning “married” and adding a series of heart emojis.
Bernthal, founder of consultancy Kelton Global and brother of actor Jon Bernthal, included a longer caption in his post. His post addressed the 2015 death of Sandberg’s ex-husband, former Yahoo executive Dave Sandberg, as well as their divorce.
“After experiencing loss, @sherylsandberg and I weren’t sure if we would ever find love again,” Bernthal wrote. “Over the last three years, we’ve combined our lives and brought our families together. Our wedding today was a dream.
said the couple people that the wedding took place in Wyoming and that Dave’s brother Rob Goldberg, who first introduced Bernthal to Sandberg, was an accomplice. Sandberg, 50, has two children and Bernthal, 52, has three.
Sandberg announced in June that he would retire in the fall after 14 years at Meta. He will remain on the board and Meta’s chief growth officer, Javier Olivan, will replace Sandberg as chief operating officer.
