Dr. Dre says doctors thought he would die after suffering a brain aneurysm in 2021.
In a recent appearance at Dolvett Quince’s practice doubt The rapper and podcast music producer shared some details about his two-week experience in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital.
“I’m at Cedars-Sinai Hospital and they didn’t let anyone in, I mean visitors or family members or anything, because of COVID, but they let my family in. I later heard that they called. upstairs to say goodbye because they thought I was leaving,” she recalled.
Dre said he didn’t care about the severity of his condition, calling the experience “crazy” to see his entire family around him while he was in the hospital.
He went on to describe part of his treatment, which was waking up every hour. “Because of what was going on in my brain, they had to wake me up every hour, every hour, for two weeks to do these tests, basically field sobriety tests. Like touching your nose, rubbing your heel,” he explained.
He added that the process left him hungry and extremely tired, noting that “I didn’t eat for two weeks” and that “as soon as they left, I tried to sleep.”
Still, he said he “never felt like he was in trouble,” despite the severity of the medical event. “I felt good, I’m just going through the procedure and I’m ready to go home,” he said. “Some might say I came out stronger than ever.”
Dre was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a brain aneurysm on January 4, 2021, and the hip-hop music mogul was released on January 16.
