Gary Busey accused of sexual assault at Monster-Mania Con

Gary Busey was accused of sexual assault at a New Jersey fan convention this month.

A 78-year-old Malibu man was charged Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of stalking, Cherry Hill Police said Saturday.

Police said the charges stemmed from crimes committed at the annual Monster Mania convention at the Doubletree Hotel Aug. 12-14 in Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb.

The actor was designated as a distinguished guest during the three-day event.

Police did not identify the alleged actor and gave an age and hometown that matched the actor. An email was sent to them asking for identification confirmation and other details.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect had a lawyer, and a representative for the actor did not immediately return a message asking for comment on Saturday.

Buzz is generally known as a character actor, mostly in supporting roles, but he rose to fame and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his lead role in the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story.
