Actress Anne Hatch was buried in a Los Angeles cemetery alongside a host of Hollywood stars, her family said on Tuesday.
Hatche was cremated and his ashes placed in a mausoleum at Hollywood Forever Cemetery nearly two weeks after he was pronounced dead in a hospital from injuries sustained in a car accident.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Hatche’s son Homer LaFoon said he and his other son, Atlas Tupper, “are confident that our mother will love the location we’ve chosen for her; She is beautiful, calm and will be among her peers in Hollywood.”
In recent years, the cemetery has become a cultural center for film screenings, music concerts and festivals.
Lafon went to see the band My Morning Jacket after his mother’s death, with tickets purchased before his mother’s death. He loved the brightness of the place and took it as a sign that his grave should be there.
“Hollywood Forever is a place to live,” Lafon said in a statement.
A small private memorial will be held after Hatche’s headstone is engraved.
“She was our mother, but the kindness and outpourings of the past few days have reminded us that she too belongs to her fans, the entertainment community and now the ages,” the statement read.
Founded in 1899 and located near the Paramount Pictures lot, the cemetery houses the graves and burials of actors such as Judy Garland and Douglas Fairbanks, and musicians such as Chris Cornell and Johnny Ramone.
Hatche’s location in the cemetery’s Garden of Legends mausoleum is near Mickey Rooney’s and is on the edge of the lake where Burt Reynolds’ remains were recently moved.
Heche, 53, was one of the biggest movie stars of the late 1990s, alongside the likes of Johnny Depp and Harrison Ford, and has worked continuously in film and television for more than three decades. But the personal turmoil he described in his memoirs and interviews often followed him.
On August 5, his car skidded off the curb and crashed into a house in West Los Angeles. The car and the house were burned. On August 11, he was declared brain dead and kept alive for another three days so his organs could be donated.
According to the Los Angeles County coroner, his death was the result of an accident and the cause was inhalation injuries and burns.
