The life of a top stylist doesn’t allow for much downtime, so when the pandemic hit and Kate Young had a little more on her hands, she made the most of it.
“I already use the Monika Vilider brand and we talked about cooperation. When COVID came and everything stopped, Monica and I tried to find out. Someone suggested we meet up on Zoom, so one day we did and we had a lot of fun on the dark days,” explains Young, who maintains a client list that includes Margot Robbie, Dakota Johnson, Selena Gomez, Michelle Williams and more. “We talked about jewelry for an hour and plan to talk more. So Collab left here. “
The Monica Vinader x Kate Young collection debuts today and is said to be “born out of a love for design, modernity and craftsmanship”. The line includes rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces in clean, sculptural cuts of bold green onyx, black onyx and lemon quartz. It’s also affordable, with prices ranging from $115 to $850.
Young said he appreciates Vinider’s sustainability practices and how it uses the most “unprecedented” stones. Born in San Sebastian, Spain, Vinader maintains boutiques in London, Hong Kong, New York and Singapore with an operations base and design team in Norfolk, England.
“All the metals he uses are 100% recycled, and he goes to extreme lengths to ensure every stone is responsibly sourced,” explained Young of the designer’s eco-friendly methods, further praising Winader for winning the University Prize. Company. Development for the brand’s commitment to the environment and ethical design.
Young’s favorite pieces, seen below, include a black onyx bracelet and lime quartz cocktail earrings. “I want to wear it all the time,” Young said of the bracelet. “As we wanted to express it, it was technically difficult to achieve.” I didn’t think this would happen. It is a continuous gold circle with a smooth-cut onyx stone set directly into the gold. There are no visible parameters and it is configured not to break. Is very difficult. When you know how something is made and all the different iterations it has gone through, that makes it really valuable.”
She also loves the fact that her close friends, stylist Karlie Kush and chef and artist Laila Gohar, are designing the designs. “I’m really happy with the images and how they turned out,” praised Yang, who also has a collaboration with eyewear brand Tura. “They look beautiful in the campaign and I’m excited.”
Yang, the occasional stylist, also explained that jewelry like this offers an easy way to style an outfit for Zoom meetings. “[During COVID] I started wearing more substantial everyday jewelry than in the past: bigger rings, stronger necklaces and more substantial jewelry,” she explained. “We still do Zoom calls and I don’t think that will ever stop because it’s so convenient to get people together to talk. A great earring, necklace or any amazing piece [worn] A simple t-shirt can make you look stylish.”
