The death of Just Jaeckin, the director of the erotic film Emmanuelle

French director Juste Jackin died on September 6 at the age of 82. He was best known for his 1974 hit erotic film Emanuela.

Just Jaeckin became a photographer in the 60s and acquired a solid reputation. In 1972, producer Yves Rousset-Roir entrusted her with the production of Emmanuelle, the story of a young woman who travels to Asia and discovers new sexual experiences.

Jackie is delighted and accepts. The erotic film received more than 8.8 million performances in France, became a worldwide success and took first place at the national box office.

Crowned with this success, Just Jaeckin becomes a fashionable erotic director. In 1975, he directed Histoire d’O, and then Madame Claude (1976). He began writing for The Last Romantic Lover in 1977, but no other film could match Emmanuel in quality and success.

The end of erotic cinema on the big screen ended his career in the early 80s. He then made Girls, Lady Chatterley’s Beloved (1981), for which he found Emanuel star Sylvia Christel, and his last film: Gwendoline (1983), based on Will’s famous comic strip. Strips, with Zabu and Bernadette Lafont.
