Both began their careers as models; How has that affected your style and fashion?

Lee Jung Jae I wasn’t really a model. I mostly model for commercials and when you do commercials the product needs to stand out and the model shouldn’t overshadow the product. So I didn’t have to dress in fashion. I have to say I didn’t really do modeling because I wanted to.

Jung Ho Yeon When modeling, I had a lot of opportunities to experiment with different concepts, so one thing I learned is not to be afraid to explore different styles and experiment, even without a camera.

How did your style evolve when you started acting?

Leeward When I started acting in the early 1990s, actors [in South Korea] They had to prepare their own clothes for TV shows and movies. From 1993 to about 2000, I made my own style and when choosing my clothes, I tried to choose the clothes that best suited the character. I wanted to explore color schemes that would emphasize my character’s emotions in a specific scene. This was the moment when I thought most about fashion.

jung I don’t think the evolution had anything to do with the transition to acting because I was definitely there in my early years as a model. I did really bad makeup and costumes. But when I finished my graduation, I got really tired and stopped dressing in fashion. Before, he only wore sweatshirts and casual clothes. About five years ago I found a balance where I’m hip, but not too hip, just the right amount of hip.

How would you describe your red carpet style today?

Leeward I’m a person who doesn’t like boring things. There are many different styles of red carpet and it all depends on the atmosphere of the event. If it’s a very formal event, I would wear less accessories. If it’s not too formal, I try to have an elevated wardrobe.

jung On the red carpet, I listen to my team’s opinions and describe it as a very natural yet detailed style.

How would you describe your style when you’re not working?

jung I literally wear the same thing every day, whether it’s jeans or Adidas sweatpants, and then I just change my shirt. I also have a contract as an Adidas ambassador, so it’s very easy.

Leeward I mostly wear colorful clothes. And people already know that I’m a fashion icon, that I dress well, so I can’t go anywhere without paying attention to my style.

Can you talk about working with your stylists, Jiana Hwang (Lee’s stylist) and Aeri Yoon (Yung)?

jung We decide together and sometimes it can be confusing because we have so many ideas, but it’s good because we always listen to each other. We share photos like Audrey Hepburn. Or rather, we drew and sketched ideas, shared and talked about what we liked.

Leeward We’ve worked together for six years. He is a very meticulous person; She prepares really well, so she has many styles to choose from.

Leeward When Gucci Changed Designers [naming Alessandro Michele creative director in 2015]I thought Gucci was taking a very bold direction in terms of color and design. It turned out to be very new, innovative and sophisticated. I already had a very good impression of the brand, but then I started looking for Gucci. It was then that I was offered a partnership and I felt very happy.

jung I knew first [Louis Vuitton creative director] Nicolas Ghesquière spoke very well when I was a model, and I admired his drawings a lot because I thought they were a perfect combination of modernity and antiquity. I also admire that she takes a lot of inspiration from art and pays close attention to the structure of her clothes. I really wanted to work with Louis Vuitton because of their distinctive design philosophy. And just because, I mean, it’s Louis Vuitton!

Any favorite pieces you used for the brand?

Leeward It’s really hard for me to choose one, but when I first became a Gucci ambassador, we did a photo shoot for the official announcement. They sent me three faces, and one was a black suit with fur. At first I thought it looked too hard and might not work well for me. But when I tried it on, it looked great and I really liked it. [wearing it].

jung I can’t pick just one, but I love my SAG Awards dress. and I appreciated it a lot [Louis Vuitton] made for me one Daeng Hairband, a traditional Korean hair accessory. I suggested to my stylist that we could do this and she asked them to accessorize and they did. It was quite an experience to represent tradition in this way as a Louis Vuitton ambassador.

“I saw the reaction from the fans. If I wear something and post it online, people know exactly what the brand is, sometimes within five minutes,” says Jung, who wears a wool blazer and pants and a men’s Vintage Flower shirt, all by Louis Vuitton.

People were very interested in him and the media covered a lot. I think it might be one of the most impactful things I’ve ever used.

Leeward Timothy Chalamet. He dresses in a very interesting, intriguing way.

jung Also! I really like Jennifer Aniston’s 90s style. He is incredible. I also like Winona Ryder and Cate Blanchett. I always Google 90s-style photos because I think the actresses looked so iconic back then.

Leeward Since the Emmys are such an important awards ceremony, Alessandro Michele, creative director at Gucci, asked me what style I wanted and gave me a few options. I chose one and it’s going to be a custom look for me.
