Versions of Me, by Anitta, features songs in English, Portuguese and Spanish — and several surprising collaborations, such as Khalid, Mr. Catra and more
Versions of Me(2022), latest album by Anita, arrived this Tuesday, April 12, on digital platforms. The album is the singer’s first release on the international label. Warner Records — and addresses the artist’s diverse personalities and facets.
The album features songs in English, Portuguese and Spanish — and several surprising collaborations, such as Khalid,Mr. Catra, Afro B and more. Of the 15 songs by Versions of Me10 are unreleased, as only five have been released.
“I’ve been working on this record for about 3 years. The album already had another name, another face. But it’s always been a reflection of who I am as an artist. I’m happy with the result we got today and finally being able to release it in full,” he said. anita in a press release.
Previously, the project would be called Girl From Riobut came to be called Versions of Me. Thus, the disc demonstrates the different versions of anita over the years of her career — as represented by the album cover, which features photos from different phases of the star.
“This album represents me on so many levels, so many layers. There are, yes, the sounds of Brazil, like funk and pagodão, which are part of my origins. But there are also references that formed my musical taste, like hip hop and pop, sounds that are global. I have fun, loosen up and feel very inspired by all these ‘versions’ of me.” Anita.
