Known for her role as Penelope in Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan almost starred in another Netflix hit
Known for the role of Penelope in bridgerton (2020), Nicola Coughlan revealed that he auditioned for the cast of Stranger Things (2016). In an interview with BuzzFeed (via NME), the actress explained that she auditioned for the role of robin in the third season of the series Netflix.
“I tested for Stranger Things few years ago. I took a test to interpret robinbut Maya Hawke got paper. She was better than I could ever be,” she stated. robin was introduced as a friend of Steve (Joe Keery) and played an important role in the season.
Despite not starring in the production, Coughlan was not upset and even admitted that she watched Hawke on paper: “It’s a good lesson for actors: watch the shows you didn’t get, because you’ll fully understand how it’s not something personal [não ganhar o papel]. You are chosen for some things and not others.”
Before Bridgerton, actress also starred Derry Girls (2018), however, was the role of Penelope that made it one of the greats of the Netflix. The period series was a big dream of Coughlan,who wanted to deliver a good job so badly that she was afraid of being fired the first few days on set.
