Warner Bros. wants to. Discovery that will enliven the future of DC Comics movies

The newborn multinational Discovery of Warner Bros.born from the merger between Discovery Inc. and of the former WarnerMedia, will consider the total fix DC Entertainment.

As reported by Differentthe president and CEO of the new company David Zaslav it reflects along with the other upper floors on the steps to be taken to integrate DC’s vertical division within the company. Clearly this is likely to affect the development of DC feature films and TV series, which Warner Bros. does. Pictures Group at Warner Bros. Television, respectively. The goal of the new management seems to be to align and group the various elements of DC Entertainment to maximize its creative potential.

In fact, an insider suggested that Zaslav – rather than looking for a creative guru – was interested in finding a profile with a business background suitable to lead all DC divisions and make them more organic. Most likely, the CEO’s efforts will therefore be centered on finding someone for DC assets to fill the same role as Kevin Feige for Marvel Studios, which is a producer who undertakes the creative project and oversees its development. In this regard, in recent weeks Zaslav allegedly met with various management personnel who specialize in the creation and promotion of intellectual property and related blockbusters. One of the names that came out of these meetings was that of Emma Wattsa plethora of executives formerly of 20th Century Studios and Paramount, though apparently never reached an agreement.

Some sources within Discovery believe that, despite the recent success of titles such as Aquaman o The Batman, the approach used to date in the cinematic facade of DC properties lacks strategic coherence. In fact, we know that in addition to DC Extended Universe the other DC cinematic universes, including the newborn, are also considered valid Batverse inaugurated by the orthodox The Batman by Matt Reeves. However, according to the company, this diversity of the narrative universe should lead to deep reflection because according to some executives it will not help in enhancing the various DC franchises in between of movies and television series.

In the face of individual characters, however, Discovery believes that a foundation counts Superman – set a bit from the last management – should be revitalized and properly exploited as a true DC house icon. A character like Joker by Joaquin Phoenix on the other hand is also cited as a brilliant example of the representation of characters from the DC library, while one of the characters where the greatest potential can be seen is the Harley Quinn by Margot Robbie.

Under the guidance of Walter Hamadawho took over Jon Berg and Geoff Johns at the helm of DC Films in 2018, DC Extended Universe films have found greater success in terms of criticism and reception at the box-office, while a greater correlation between universe is also appreciated.movies and teleseries such as Peacemaker. Hamada himself is under contract until the end of 2023, and it is not excluded that he may be the figure Zaslav is looking for.
