Potatoes, tomatoes and other common foods that can kill you

Not all of the foods we eat on a regular basis are as safe as many think.

We tell you why even your favorite and so familiar products should be consumed wisely.

Mushrooms

Here you might think we are talking about mushrooms, but no. The fact is that even edible mushrooms, such as boletus, boletus or mushrooms, can be dangerous. It turns out that mushrooms tend to accumulate toxic substances, and the older the mushroom, the more dangerous it is. Therefore, it is strongly not recommended to eat overripe and already collapsing mushrooms, since protein decay products are dangerous and can cause poisoning.

Potato

Potatoes contain the natural pesticide solanine, which is dangerous to humans. So if you see even a slightly greenish potato, throw it away! Only mature tubers can be eaten.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain the same dangerous substance as potatoes. Solanine can cause nausea, vomiting, and even hallucinations. But there is good news: only green tomatoes are to be feared. Do not eat them, but wait for them to ripen. In red tomatoes, the level of solanine is reduced to an acceptable level.

Red beans

Have you ever wondered why beans take so long to cook? It turns out that it contains a large amount of phytohemoglutinin – a substance that is dangerous for humans. You can get rid of it by pre-soaking (for 7-12 hours) and long cooking. By the way, before cooking, do not forget to change the water to fresh water.

Cashew nut

Cashews are the favorite nuts of many. Besides, it’s very useful. But not raw… Cashews contain the organic toxin urushiol, which can cause an allergic skin reaction. But don’t panic: even if the supermarket packaging says the cashews are raw, don’t worry, in fact, they have undergone a special treatment, and you shouldn’t be afraid of toxins. But we don’t recommend indulging in a really raw nut.
