Christian Bale looked back on his career and donned his hat in Heath Ledger’s performance of The Dark Knight while promoting his next film, Amsterdam, in theaters November 1.
After sharing the poster of The Dark Knight together, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger left an indelible image of Batman and Joker on the retinas of viewers. But even for Bruce Wayne’s interpreter, this shoot will remain in his memory, thanks to the memories of Heath Ledger.
Tragically dead in 2008 (aged 28) from drug poisoning, the Australian actor made his mark in film history with his incredible performance in Joker for director Christopher Nolan. Almost 15 years after his death, Christian Bale paid a hilarious tribute to the comedian on the microphone. QG :
What a performance from Heath Ledger, what a pleasure to be able to work with him and see him give himself so much in Joker. I watched him do it and said to myself, “Wow, that’s fantastic.”
The actor also confided this Christopher NolanThey knew that Batman’s enemies are always more interesting than the hero. From then on, the Dark Knight had to be as close to the villain as possible. Then the director told Bale:
Heath Ledger as Joker
“Never let it become relatively boring.” Except I’d sit back and say, “I feel a little uninspiring by comparison,” because Heath was rocking! I’m so proud of this movie, The Dark Knight is amazing and it was a pleasure working with Heath. He was full of talent and spirit who was a pleasure to live with. I miss you so much.
A disturbing tribute. The two men have already found themselves in the same cast of I’m Not There, which came out a year before The Dark Knight, in which Ledger played an actor who played a musician played by Christian Bale in a biopic. Each tableau in the film evokes an aspect of singer Bob Dylan.
After The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger went on to make The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a film he would not complete. It will still end thanks to Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell agreeing to change it every time his character crosses a mirror that transports him to a parallel universe. This, of course, will be his last feature film.
