Dwayne Johnson always say that Black Adam it would change the hierarchy of power within the DC Extended Universe. A refrain that the star has always mentioned since announcing his participation in the project, however now it takes on a wider and more concrete meaning.
Johnson is currently engaged in the grueling press promotion of the cinecomic DC that will see him star, and in recent days he has opened up by giving important revelations on the dreaded appearance of Henry Cavill in the role of Superman after a very long absence. In a new red carpet intervention, Johnson revealed that he has an important role in the upcoming return of Man of Steel to the big screen, but let’s stop at one step.
As we know, the new management of Warner Bros. Discovery is more determined to create great cinematic blockbusters involving three symbolic DC characters, or Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. An approach that seems to be the opposite of what has been done in recent years, which saw the progressive exclusion of Henry Cavill’s Superman in DC Movies dedicated to the movies and series that will be offered in the HBO Max streaming catalog.
Now, the former wrestler has revealed how former management at the studio turned down his requests to re-introduce Henry Cavill in a film project for six years. Things would change in an instant since David Zaslav took over the company. While not naming names, Dwayne Johnson expressed himself on the issue as follows:
“I think it’s something that serves not only Black Adam, but the entire DC Comics universe in cinema. And above all, it means taking care of the fans. This is how you should guide your steps. So yes: phone calls, meetings… but, what the hell… it took six years. Six years to do it. I’ll say it again: we’ve been talking about it for six years and they keep saying ‘No’ to me. Now that the leadership is gone and we can start a new course within the DC universe“.
Below you can see the video in question which sees Dwayne Johnson address the issue on the red carpet:
For those who doubted the influence of Rocks on the return of Superman, he explained that he started to do it 6 years ago, for 6 years the old leadership at WB kept saying no to it. Shazam is always guaranteed to make us real. But Superman? The old regime did not care about him. pic.twitter.com/GTvxW8MtCN
