Among the challenges of the new production in the same universe is exploring previously told stories: the relationship between the parents of Dean and Sam. “To be honest, I thought, ‘I don’t know if we can do this,'” ackles stated.
“I had to sit down with the screenwriter Robbie Thompson: ‘Well, we know we need to do this and that, but if we just connect those dots with a straight line, it wouldn’t bring any entertainment. This is boring,” she continued.
the thoughts of Thompson and Jensen led to the connections seen in The Winchesters: “It’s a simple story. If we connect those dots in a crazier, wilder, Supernatural, we would have a series. So that’s what we’re doing.”
“We’re going to get to these points unexpectedly, which is why we’re having so much fun with the story taking shape. It’s not a washed-up, sweet version of how Mom and Dad met. That’s what really happened.”
