“No, I don’t think we should abolish Tucker Carlson,” Kimmel said. “I think Tucker Carlson is on commercial television. And if you don’t like Tucker Carlson, you shouldn’t buy the products advertised on his show. And if you want to write a letter to these companies, you have to write a letter to them. But I don’t think it’s a good idea to silence people because I want to know where people are coming from. I want to know what they think. I want to know if they have terrible thoughts, I want to hear their confession.”
“Now, can I believe Tucker Carlson believes what he says?” he added. “Don’t. I think it’s fake in every way. I think it’s an algorithm. I think he created his audience. I think he started out as a very low-middle political speaker, with a favorite little band, the Polka Dots .”
Kimmel was also asked about Spotify podcast host Joe Rogan, who replaced Kimmel as co-host of Comedy Central. male show And criticized by guests who supported conspiracy theories.
“I don’t think anyone should be silent,” Kimmel said. “I would like people to pay attention to the facts and I would like people to just be consistent. I don’t know. [Rogan] In general… I’ve met him… and I think he’s a fun guy. And I think most of what he says is funny and fun to listen to. I know people who trust what he says, and I personally know people who put themselves at risk because they underestimate the importance of vaccines. “But I also know he’s not as black and white as the media sometimes makes him out to be.”
Finally, about former President Trump, the host said he really wanted to be a guest on his frequent comedic target on ABC’s Late Night.
“In reality [like to have him on]”Because I want to tell you so much,” he said. “And I know what would happen: there will be protests from my friends on the left and also those on the right who saw what I was reading. But there are many things I want to say and ask.
“I’m always frightened by the idea that any of us, myself included, would like to have a president because it would make our job easier,” he added. “It didn’t make our job easier. “It complicated our job and, more importantly, it divided the country in a way we’ve never seen in our lives.”
