Endeavor Content Supports Hugh Marks and Carl Fanes’ Australian Dreamchaser Studio Launch

Veteran Australian entertainment executives Hugh Marks and Carl Fanesy announced on Wednesday that they are teaming up to create an ambitious new film and television studio in the Land Down Under.

The Sydney-based company Dreamchaser is supported by Endeavor Content and has been named Australia’s first full-service production and distribution studio.

“We hope Hugh and Carl will leverage their combined industry experience to launch Dreamchaser, leveraging Australia’s thriving creative and manufacturing communities,” said Endeavor Content co-CEOs Chris Rice and Graham Taylor. “With Dreamchaser, Australia is strengthening its position as the leading global destination for world-class content, bringing the next level of storytelling to the export of new and established voices across the continent and beyond.”

Marx and Fanes, who will be the co-CEOs of Dreamchaser, will make this effort to bring wealth to the industry. Marx is the former head of Australian media Nine Entertainment, while Fanes was the co-founder of Endemol Shine Australia.

In a joint statement, the duo outlined their ambitions to “build a collection of creative partnerships across the screenplay, factual and entertainment genres into one portfolio, to bring global projects out of the Australian market”.

The couple brought several former employees into key management positions, including Sarah Horn as chief operating officer, Megan Reese-Williams as chief financial officer, and Monique Keller as chief development officer. Horn hails from Endemol Shine Australia, where she was General Manager of Production and Operations, leading a team across the entire production roster that included MasterChef, Gogglebox, Survivor, LEGO Masters, Married at a Glance, Ninja Warrior, Big Brother etc. Reese-Williams is a contract accountant who also previously worked at Endemol Shine in Australia and previously held finance positions at ITV in Sydney, London and Los Angeles. Keller comes to Dreamchaser from Fremantle Australia, where he worked as a development executive on live and scripted projects.

No new products were announced in the announcement, but Dreamchaser said the first month of its operation included “several new project deals as well as multi-title deals with leading Australian creatives”.
