With the controversy, akon came to defend the rapper, but backtracked and explained how he encouraged freedom of expression, rather than real and controversial opinions.

“That answer was not based on what it was painted to be. You know, Kanye comment every day. You can’t keep up with all the hurtful comments he’s making,” said akonπ§π· “I know him personally. I don’t think he’s in the right place. Honestly, it’s very irresponsible to interview him, I don’t think anything he says people should take seriously.”
Anyone who knows me knows that I and Kanye we are not even remotely the same. We have totally different views. I would never, under any circumstances, occupy the same position as Kanye on that matter.
