Less than a week after the film’s release in Italian cinemas, during the panel Disney ng CinemaCon 2022 of Los Angeles, i Marvel Studios showed the first 20 minutes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The screening is expected by some of the statements Kevin Feige who announced that after CinemaCon he will meet with the top management of Marvel Studios to plan the next 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, Feige mentioned about Doctor Strange’s pre-sales in the Multiverse of Madness that have already exceeded 42 million dollars overall.
Below is the complete description of the first 20 minutes of the film. Obviously the following gifts large SPOILERS in the filmtherefore do not recommend reading to those who do not want to break the surprise.
In the opening sequence of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Defender Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) meets America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). The two fled into a mysterious purple world full of dust and debris we’ve already seen in trailers. They are chased by a creepy monster with alien features. Strange and Chavez tried to cool him down, but this solution would last a short time. Strange said they could not allow the demon to steal America’s power. The creature is too powerful and escapes the trap. Strange, wounded by the monster, apologizes to America telling him “this is the only way” and begins to take over his powers. Strange thinks he can’t handle his power, but he does. America is scared and angry as Strange tries to kill him as he thinks he is on his side. The sorcerer explained to him that in the grand scheme of the Multiverse, his death was a necessary sacrifice. Yet before it was over, the creature stabbed him in the chest killing him. So America was captured and it all seemed over. But at this point America is furious and is able to create a huge stellar field of magic behind him that slows down the monster’s movements. With his last breath, Defender Strange freed America from the monster’s grasp. But this is just a dream!
The scene has moved to New York at the moment, Stephen Strange is preparing for a wedding. Among those present we will also notice Nicodemus West (Michel Stuhlbarg). The two talk and discover that they are the same exploded in Thanos’s snap. At the time, West had lost cats, a sibling, and wondered if things might have been different if not for the blip. Strange explained that there was no other way. “The best surgeon, the best hero … but you don’t get your woman,” West exclaimed to change the subject. What Stephen must attend is the wedding of Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams), who walks down the aisle alone. Christine and Strange tell each other that it won’t work between them, and they want to be happy. It looks like Christine, while Strange is lying. There was a loud noise from the street. Strange jumped from the balcony wearing his costume, and flew to find out what had happened. Something unseen destroys a bus, it’s a giant one -eyed interdimensional sprawling monster named Gargantos chasing America Chavez. A fascinating sequence of action follows. Gargantos was brutally defeated. After the battle, America tried to flee but was stopped by Strange and Wong. The three eat pizza together, as he explains to her why he’s chasing her: monsters want to steal his power, or the ability to cross universes. Strange and Wong don’t believe him until he delivers Doctor Strange’s lifeless body to the universe.
Wong and Strange wonder if it’s the work of witchcraft, and at this point Wanda Maximoff enters. As WandaVision music plays in the background, we see Wanda in her house preparing lunch and dinner for her children Billy and Tonny, but it’s just a dream, just like Strange’s. In reality he was alone, in bed, in silence. Strange arrives and convinces Wanda that she wants to blame him for what happened in Westview, as she explains that she needs to know more about the multiverse and asks her if she wants to come with him to Kamar-Taj.
This is the first 20 minutes of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesspreviewed at CinemaCon 2022. We remember that the film was directed by Sam Raimi will come to theaters in Italy on the 4th of May.
