In the wake of the Ukraine war, comedian Benedict Cumberbatch has said he welcomes a refugee family to his home in the UK.
Two months after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, although he had already spoken out on the subject in March last year, actor Benedict Cumberbatch recently said he would soon welcome a family of Ukrainian refugees.
At the London premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (next Wednesday in theaters), the actor reaffirmed his commitment to refugees and his desire to help, explaining that he was preparing to make his private home accessible to the family:
“They managed to leave Ukraine. I monitor their progress every day”Thus he said to the microphone Sky News.
“Unfortunately, they have to undergo medical treatment – if I were to say more than that, I would not respect their privacy and the details of their arrival or how it would be dealt with – it might hurt me – but I want to give them some stability after that uprising. “It has passed and it will be under my roof.”
Benedict Cumberbatch also said that he financially assisted Ukrainian families in adapting their arrival on British soil and thanked his compatriots:
“I urge people to seek additional support to support their efforts, and that’s quite a lot – I’m very, very proud of our country, very proud of what we can do to give our best as human beings.”
