Three weeks ago, everyone was jealous of 37-year-old Lavigne, whom her 35-year-old lover, musician and producer Mod Sun, proposed to at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. As it turned out, this was just the beginning of a series of parties in honor of the upcoming wedding ceremony. On the eve of the stars decided to celebrate a significant event surrounded by family and friends, including rapper Machine Gun Kelly, at his home in Los Angeles. The future spouses called the party a “pre-wedding wedding.” Exclusive footage of the party, as well as the engagement, was published by People magazine.
The organizer of celebrity weddings, Mindy Weiss, was responsible for preparing the event, who chose Parisian style as the main theme, as a tribute to the fact that Mod Sun proposed to the singer in this city. However, the couple diluted the rather classic concept with branded punk chic. Specially for the event, a three-tiered cake was made, decorated with craft edible bride and groom mini-figures and neon color icing. And the main element of table decoration was not only traditional flowers and miniature Eiffel Towers, but also multi-colored skulls.

In addition to the selected guests, the wedding was attended by a common furry friend of the couple – a dog named Chuko, with whom they posed for the photographer with pleasure. The bride and groom fulfilled their teenage dreams and chose matching pink outfits for the photo shoot: Avril in a puffy pink tutu dress with black ribbons around the waist, and Mod Sun in a pink striped suit with raw seams.
I immediately felt a powerful, irresistible bond between us from the first week we worked together in the studio. Right there, – Avril says about the beginning of his relationship with his future spouse.
Recall that for the first time the lovers met in 2020, when they worked together on Lavigne’s latest studio album Love Sux. Their romance became officially known at the beginning of 2021, and already on March 27, Mod Sun proposed to Avril against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and presented the pop-punk star with a ring with a design inspired by the atmosphere of the “city of lovers”.
For Avril, this will be the third marriage. AT November 2019 she broke up with the son of the Egyptian-American billionaire Fayez Sarofim – Phillip (they were not married). It was her first serious relationship after her recovery – a few years ago she was diagnosed with life-threatening Lyme disease, which developed from a tick bite. Avril was almost completely paralyzed, spent many months in a hospital bed, and after recovering, she divorced Chad Kroeger, lead singer of Nickelback, after two years of marriage. Before that, she was married to Sum 41 vocalist Derek Whibley (the marriage lasted four years – from 2006 to 2010).
