Original Game of The Last of Us starts in 2013 and moves to 2033; HBO series takes place in 2003 and 2023
Like all adaptations, the series The Last of Us needed to make some changes to the plot and characters to be able to translate the original game, released in 2013, in the best possible way for the small screen.
In the second scene of the production of HBO commanded by Neil Druckmanone of the creators of the game, and Craig Mazinresponsible for the miniseries Chernobylwe can see a significant change: the period in which the story takes place.

The beginning of the game takes place in September 2013 and the time jump jumps to 2033. However, the series begins in September 2003, with the jump to 2023, the same year in which the production is launched. During a round table with the participation of Rolling Stone Brazil, Craig Mazinone of those responsible for the adaptation, commented on this change.
“It was something we talked about from the beginning. If someone shows me a series and sees that it happens in 10 years, or 20, I get a little disconnected,” said the executive. “I really liked the idea of saying, ‘When you watch the show, you’re seeing this world that’s happening right now parallel to ours.’
This could be us now. And I just love that idea. AND Neil [Druckman] said, ‘Yes, let’s do that.’
“And it didn’t change a lot. It just changed a little bit about certain elements of pop culture. What kind of phone did we have? What movies were playing? And we were very, very careful,” he continued. mazin. “I hope nobody finds a mistake to make sure you don’t see anything that would have happened, even in October 2003. Because it’s over.”
