North West’s debut concert tour collapsed weeks before it was set to begin, and sources close to the family are now pointing to a mix of low ticket sales, parental anxiety, and a co-headliner who needed to step back.
The 13-year-old rapper had been scheduled to join 21-year-old Molly Santana on the 14-date Kimokawaii Tour, set to kick off August 6 in support of North’s debut album N0rth4evr. Instead, North confirmed the cancellation in a statement: “I was really excited to go on tour w molly santana sadly it isn’t happening anymore. But I have something special for u guys see ya soon.”
Tears and Blame
Behind that composed public message, sources told the Daily Mail, the reality was harder. One insider said North is disappointed by the outcome. A second source placed the blame on her father, Kanye West, saying he should have known it was too early and now has to wipe away her tears.
A third source pushed back on that framing, saying Kanye had nothing to do with the cancellation and that the news came as a shock to him. That insider added that the father-daughter bond remains strong and that Ye is planning to do something to make it up to her, hinting that a small joint tour between the two could follow.
The pair have already shared major stages this year. North performed alongside Kanye at his Mexico City arena shows in January, including her solo track Piercing on My Hand, in front of more than 40,000 fans. She also made a surprise appearance at his sold-out SoFi Stadium show in Los Angeles in April and joined him again in Tampa Bay for another stadium performance.
Kim’s Growing Concerns
Kim Kardashian, who shares a TikTok account with North and has said she sacrifices her own work commitments to monitor her daughter’s projects, was also a factor. According to a third source, as the tour got closer to becoming reality, Kardashian wanted to be more hands-on and learn more about what was planned. The source said she was worried about North’s security and well-being throughout the tour and has remained focused on North still being a kid.

The Real Culprit: Ticket Sales
A second source, however, pointed to a more straightforward explanation: the venues were not filling up. The insider said the tour required significant spending on security and travel, and the economics simply did not work without strong ticket sales.
The source linked the shortfall to broader pressures on the concert industry, noting that Americans are spending less on live events as the economy tightens and that the problem is not limited to smaller artists. People will spend on a major star’s ticket but pull back for lesser-known acts, the source said.
North’s specific fan base added another layer of difficulty, the insider explained, saying her audience is very young and those kids cannot buy tickets themselves. The source also suggested that some parents are hesitant because North’s image, which includes piercings and blue hair, does not fit a family-friendly mold. The source added that North needs more well-known songs before she can reliably fill venues.
Santana’s Side
On Molly Santana’s involvement in the cancellation, one source said she wanted to finish her album, and a third source said her unavailability was the main factor. Santana addressed ticketholders in a statement on Instagram, apologizing and promising to make it up to fans.
What comes next for North remains unclear. Her full cancellation statement promised something special, and the first source told the Daily Mail that a rescheduled tour is what she had in mind. Whether that materializes, with Kardashian pushing for more oversight and Kanye reportedly angling for something bigger, is yet to be seen.
