Actor Yuri Kolokolnikov has appeared in the new Hollywood film The Surgeon alongside stars Michelle Yeoh and Martin Freeman. The Russian performer shared behind the scenes photographs from the set on Instagram.
Writing on social media, Kolokolnikov said he felt as though he had boarded the wrong minibus, but noted that it was already too late to get off. He added that the cast had come together exceptionally well, described the plot as something audiences had definitely never seen before, and said that was all he could reveal for the time being.
The feature film follows a retired surgeon who is kidnapped and forced to perform an operation on a mysterious patient. Roshan Sethi directed the production.
The Surgeon is scheduled to make its premiere on September 12 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Known as TIFF, the annual event in Toronto, Canada, is one of the world's major film festivals.
Cast and production details
Oscar winning actress Michelle Yeoh and British star Martin Freeman take the lead roles in the motion picture. Yeoh won the Academy Award for Best Actress, while Freeman is widely known for playing John Watson in the BBC series Sherlock and Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit film trilogy.
In January, news emerged that Kolokolnikov had also completed filming for the third season of the television series The White Lotus. Film director Max Shishkin spotted the actor in a third season trailer released on YouTube by streaming service HBO Max.
Television awards and recent projects
During the same month, The White Lotus earned a nomination at the Actor Awards. The show was nominated in the category for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series, though the project did not win the award.
Kolokolnikov posted his behind the scenes photos on Instagram, which is owned by Meta. The social network operates under legal restrictions in Russia, where Meta is designated as an extremist organisation and banned.
