Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sarah Pidgeon were seen passionately kissing in the street in Manhattan as they filmed scenes for Netflix's new limited series Enigma Variations.
Taylor-Johnson, 36, is taking the lead role of Paul in the adaptation of André Aciman's novel, which follows his romantic and sexual relationships with both men and women across roughly a decade. Pidgeon, 30, plays Chloe, a character who has a recurring connection with Paul and reappears at different stages of his life, becoming a lasting thread throughout the story.
New images from the set showed the intensity of the two characters' relationship, with the actors holding each other and locking lips on a Manhattan street. In one shot, Pidgeon's character smirked flirtily at her co-star while smoking a cigarette before the pair fell into an intimate embrace.
Pidgeon wore a velvet paisley jacket with a red fur collar, teamed with tights and a pair of gold slingback heels. Taylor-Johnson wore a cream polo neck jumper with a grey coat and was seen holding onto Pidgeon's jaw as the pair kissed for the camera.
What Enigma Variations Is About
The series is described as an exploration of masculinity, sexuality and modern love in a world of endless choices, posing the question of whether people will know when they have found the one. Aciman is also the author behind Call Me By Your Name, the novel and later film that won acclaim from fans and critics for its seductive storyline.
A Change of Leading Man
The role of Paul was originally set to be played by Jeremy Allen White before he was replaced by Taylor-Johnson.
Sarah Pidgeon's Latest Role
Enigma Variations marks Pidgeon's first role since she earned an Emmy nomination for playing Carolyn Bessette in FX's Love Story. She is also the final female character to be cast in the new Netflix series.
The Rest of the Cast
The ensemble also includes Alicia Vikander, known for The Danish Girl, who plays Claire, Paul's wife and one of his major love interests. Riley Keough, who appeared in Jay Kelly and Daisy Jones and the Six, plays Maud, while Devon Terrell, known for It's What's Inside, Barry and The Assassin, plays Manfred.
Nicholas Podany, who starred in Ponies and Saturday Night, takes on the role of Harlan, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins, known for Hacks and Candyman, plays Noah. The cast is rounded out by Peter Hermann (Younger, Blue Bloods) as Isaac, Juliana Canfield (F.A.S.T, Stereophonic) as Allie, and Francesca Cavallin as Luciana.
