Alejandra Rubio has been discharged from hospital in Madrid after giving birth to her second child with partner Carlo Costanzia.
The Spanish television personality left the Fundación Jiménez Díaz medical facility on Tuesday, September 1, at noon, bringing home their newborn daughter, Tessa, who was born on Saturday, August 29.
The couple departed discreetly without posing for assembled photographers outside the hospital gates. Carlo Costanzia's father sat in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, remaining attentive to his newborn granddaughter throughout the journey.
Alejandra and Carlo have now returned home, where Tessa joins her older brother, Carlo, who is one year and eight months old, having been born on December 6, 2024.
Name tribute to grandmothers
Rubio and Costanzia confirmed that the name Tessa carries deep personal significance for both families. It was selected as a shared tribute to their respective grandmothers, the late veteran broadcaster María Teresa Campos and Elsa.
The choice reflects a strong connection to Spanish media history. María Teresa Campos was a landmark figure in national television and radio for decades, helping pioneer morning talk show formats across major networks prior to her passing in 2023.
The newborn arrives following a period of quiet preparation for the couple. Rubio, who is the daughter of television presenter Terelu Campos, spent the months leading up to the birth away from the media spotlight, having stepped down from her television work at the end of March.
Hospital statements and delivery
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital entrance on Monday afternoon, August 31, Rubio shared brief details about the delivery. She explained that everything had gone well, adding that expectant mothers should enter labor without set expectations.
The media personality also revealed that she had undergone surgery once again during the delivery, explaining at the time that she was still uncertain when doctors would grant her medical discharge.
Fundación Jiménez Díaz, located in central Madrid, is a major university teaching hospital known for its maternal care unit and specialized surgical facilities.
Family celebrations and reactions
The birth of baby Tessa brought widespread celebration across both family lines, coinciding with a key family milestone. Terelu Campos, who celebrated her 61st birthday on August 31, described the birth of her granddaughter two days earlier as one of the finest birthday presents of her life.
The television presenter noted that Tessa would always have her birthday celebrated first, followed shortly by her grandmother's turn. She added that her primary wish was for her granddaughter to grow up in complete health.
Terelu Campos has worked for decades as a high-profile Spanish television presenter and commentator, continuing the broadcasting tradition established by her mother.
On the paternal side of the family, model and media figure Mar Flores expressed her delight during an appearance on the Spanish television show Y ahora Sonsoles. Flores said she was very happy to see the couple creating a family together, describing her son as deeply family-oriented.
Flores praised Rubio as a champion for her resilience during the delivery, adding that welcoming a baby girl was the ultimate joy for their family.
Carlo Costanzia, an actor and model who starred in television series such as Toy Boy, is the son of Flores and Italian aristocrat Carlo Costanzia di Costigliole.
