Spanish singer Andrés Koi released his new single 'La flaca quiere bailar' on Friday, August 28, closing out the summer season amid a period of strong creative momentum.

The track has been released strictly as an audio recording accompanied by watercolour artwork, maintaining the visual aesthetic he has followed throughout his solo career after departing from Spanish pop band Dvicio.

Rhythm and production details

The new single opens with whistled melodies and vocal echoes arranged over a framing guitar. As the song progresses, percussion breaks in with the arrival of the chorus to balance the instrumentals.

Following the chorus, Koi incorporates a semi-rapped vocal passage that transitions into a swaying cadence, bridging the track back to an energetic peak. The sound continues the musical signature of his current solo era, which already features two studio albums.

Solo albums and identity

Koi began his solo career in 2024 with his debut album 'AIJAG', which marked his starting point away from Dvicio. The album title is an acronym for Andrés, It's Just a Game, and was launched with the lead single 'Buffet'.

The artist, whose birth surname is Ceballos, replaced his surname with the moniker Koi as an acronym for kid of immigrant. He explained that the name serves as a tribute to his parents and a display of pride in his roots and origins.

In early 2026, he released his second album, 'Sol de invierno', a relaxed pop project preceded by the single 'Mesita de noche' and built around themes of romanticism and optimism.

CADENA 100 interview and tour

During an appearance at the CADENA 100 radio studios in Madrid to discuss 'Sol de invierno', Koi stated that from a sound standpoint the record was designed simply to deliver good songs without extra flourishes. He noted that except for the track 'Los Ángeles', the entire album was recorded live, describing himself as a purist romantic in an era of artificial intelligence.

He told the station that the project focuses heavily on hope, explaining that the title 'Sol de invierno' serves as a metaphor for receiving the warmth of sunlight during difficult times after days of rain. He added that the record arrived after years of personal challenges and internal work, reflecting a stage where he feels comfortable with his life.

Koi will bring the songs from 'Sol de invierno' to the stage this autumn during his eight-stop 'Siempre sale el sol' concert tour.
