Spanish singer David Bisbal has unveiled a cover of Julio Iglesias' 1982 classic song Quijote at a music festival in his hometown of Almeria, marking the sixth preview track revealed from his upcoming tribute album Eternos ahead of its release on October 2.
Bisbal performed the track live in front of an audience for the first time during the weekend event in Almeria, before sharing a video snippet of the performance on Instagram to confirm the addition to his new record.
Writing on social media, the performer described Quijote as an essential piece of Spanish music history that he had long been eager to sing. He added that the countdown to the complete album launch is now active, with just over a month remaining until the full tracklist is made available to listeners.
The original 1982 recording of Quijote appeared on Julio Iglesias' album Momentos and was produced by Ramon Arcusa. The composition was written by Iglesias, Arcusa, Manuel de la Calva, and Gianni Belfiore, with Arcusa and de la Calva widely recognized across Spain as the pop duo Duo Dinamico.
Bisbal explained that the overarching goal of Eternos is not only to honor celebrated vocalists, but also to pay tribute to the songwriters and producers who helped turn those tracks into enduring classics. He noted that six tracks have been announced so far, promising that further male and female musical legends will be revealed before October 2.
Preview tracks unveiled across live stages
The artist has established a pattern of unveiling new material during live performances throughout recent months. The rollout began on March 28 on stage at the La Noche de CADENA 100 festival, where he debuted a version of Camilo Sesto's hit Vivir asi es morir de amor.
Following that initial reveal, Bisbal used an appearance in Mexico to present a rendition of Juan Gabriel's Amor, amor. The singer has also introduced covers of Jeanette's 1981 ballad Frente a frente, Nino Bravo's classic Te quiero, te quiero, and Jose Jose's popular track El amar y el querer.
Preparation and project background
Bisbal first announced the tribute project on May 7, calling it a deeply personal endeavor that followed months of preparation, emotional investment, music research, and learning. The singer, who rose to prominence 25 years ago on the Spanish television talent show Operacion Triunfo, emphasized that the album was created with patience and respect for musical tradition.
Radio station CADENA 100, which features Bisbal regularly in its music programming, noted that the singer previously set October 2 as a key date on his release calendar. Bisbal confirmed that additional background stories and musical surprises will continue to be released in the weeks leading up to the album's official debut.
