Anitta, Loulu Gilberto Lead Brazil's Latin Grammy Nods

Brazilian singer Anitta and Loulu Gilberto, the youngest daughter of bossa nova pioneer Joao Gilberto, are among the Brazilian artists nominated for the 27th Latin Grammy Awards, according to a list released by the Latin Recording Academy on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The official ceremony is confirmed for November 12 in the United States.

Anitta is competing for Album of the Year with "EQUILIBRIVM." It is one of the night's marquee categories, pitting her record against the year's top releases across the Latin music industry.

Loulu Gilberto has two nominations. She is up for Best New Artist and for Record of the Year, the latter for her song "O Amor nos Encontrou."

What the Latin Grammys are

The Latin Grammy Awards are handed out annually by the Latin Recording Academy to honor excellence and quality across Latin music. Now in its 27th edition, the ceremony draws nominees from Brazil, Spain and across Latin America, though the event itself is staged in the United States.

Joao Gilberto, who died in 2019, was one of the founding figures of bossa nova, the guitar-driven style that grew out of Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s and reshaped Brazilian popular music. Loulu Gilberto is his youngest daughter and is carving out her own recording career, now recognized with two nominations of her own.

Other Brazilian nominees

Several other prominent Brazilian artists are also in contention this year, including Vanessa da Mata, Urias, Criolo, Johnny Hooker and Ney Matogrosso.
