Aurika Rotaru Wins Court Battle to Recalculate Her Pension

Ukrainian singer Aurika Rotaru won a lawsuit against the Pension Fund of Ukraine to force a review of her monthly retirement payout.

Aurika Rotaru Wins Court Battle to Recalculate Her Pension

Ukrainian singer Aurika Rotaru has won a court ruling ordering the Pension Fund of Ukraine to re-examine her monthly pension calculation. News outlet Oboz.ua reported the decision, citing entries in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.

The legal dispute between the singer and the Main Directorate of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Lviv Region began after pension officials refused to recalculate her payout. The administrative case was registered in 2025.

Salary certificate dispute

Rotaru requested the recalculation after the D. Hnatiuk Chernivtsi Regional Philharmonic issued her a salary certificate on February 25, 2025. The document detailed her income while working at the philharmonic from 1980 to 1986, earnings that were omitted from her original pension calculation.

The Pension Fund refused her request, stating that it needed to verify the document and inspect primary records or check reports. Rotaru challenged the decision in the Lviv Regional Administrative Court.

The court ruled in Rotaru's favor and instructed the Pension Fund to review her application again using the submitted documents. The court did not establish a new payout amount in its ruling.

Rotaru previously stated publicly that her monthly pension was around 6,000 hryvnias, which included a bonus for her title of People's Artist. She said at the time that she considered the amount too low.
