Brooklyn Beckham stepped up to assist his wife Nicola Peltz on the red carpet at the Deauville Film Festival in France on Tuesday night, carefully rearranging the train of her gown as the couple arrived to celebrate veteran actress Faye Dunaway.

The estranged son of David and Victoria Beckham acted as his wife's dutiful red carpet assistant once again, pulling out all the stops in a smart black suit to ensure she was picture perfect for the evening.

Nicola, 31, wore a white chiffon Alberta Ferretti gown from the fashion house's 2027 collection, complete with a ruffled train that required her husband's constant attention on the carpet.

The Italian luxury brand Alberta Ferretti, founded by designer Alberta Ferretti in 1980, is widely known for delicate chiffon drapery and evening wear. The Deauville American Film Festival, held annually in the seaside resort town of Deauville in Normandy, France, was established in 1975 to honor American cinema.

The couple jetted to France just hours after their appearance in Venice, travelling to support Dunaway as she prepared to receive the Icon Award. Upon their arrival, Nicola received a sweet kiss from Brooklyn before posing alongside Dunaway as the legendary star celebrated her acting honor.

Dunaway, an Academy Award winning American actress, achieved international acclaim in classics such as Bonnie and Clyde, Chinatown, and Network, for which she won the Oscar for Best Actress.

Support across European film festivals

The appearance in France marked the second time in a matter of days that Brooklyn stepped in to help manage his wife's high fashion wardrobe at a major European film event.

Nicola had also been supported by her husband over the weekend when she was awarded the Rising Star award at the Venice Film Festival in Italy. On Saturday night, Brooklyn was seen gathering up the long train of her cobalt blue Balenciaga gown, ensuring the pricey garment did not drag on the pavement.

Throughout their time in Italy, Brooklyn doted on his wife, clasping her arm tightly and guiding her with care onto the small podium in the gardens of the Casa Cinema Giovani when she received her Kineo award for her work as an actress, producer and budding film-maker.

The Venice International Film Festival, founded in 1932 on the Lido in Venice, is the world's oldest film festival. Balenciaga, the French luxury fashion house originally founded in Spain in 1919 by Cristóbal Balenciaga, is renowned for avant-garde red carpet designs.

Brooklyn is the eldest son of former England football captain David Beckham and Spice Girls singer turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham. Nicola, an American actress known for roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Bates Motel, married Brooklyn in 2022.

Family attendance and industry reaction

While the Kineo award was welcomed by her husband, sources have shared with the Daily Mail that it has sparked anger from her industry peers.

Nicola was joined at the ceremony in Venice by her family, including her proud billionaire father, business leader Nelson Peltz, her mother Claudia, and her brother Bradley.

Her father Nelson was seen fanning himself in the 30C heat and, at times during the wait, retreating inside to escape the high temperatures before the presentation began.

Nelson Peltz is a prominent American billionaire businessman and founding partner of the investment firm Trian Fund Management, while his daughter has pursued a career across acting, producing, and filmmaking.

Acceptance speech and tributes

Taking the stage at the ceremony, Nicola admitted to feeling nervous before delivering her acceptance speech to the audience.

She said: "Hi everyone. I am normally more comfortable playing a character as an actor than standing in front of an audience, so please bear with me."

Expressing her gratitude for the honor, she added: "Thank you so much for this immense honour. To receive an award at the Venice Film Festival is something I will carry with me for the rest of my career."

She then addressed her co-star in the film Prima, Faye Dunaway, who was given a lifetime achievement award at the same ceremony, praising her influence and mentorship.

Nicola said: "Faye you have always been an inspiration to me and learning with you has been incredible."

She concluded her speech by thanking her family and husband for their ongoing encouragement throughout her career in cinema.

Nicola said: "My family are my everything. My mum, dad, (brothers) Diesel and Brad and Brooklyn thank you. You always believe in me. To have your support is the reason I can reach to the stars in the first place."
