Camila Naranjo, the widow of Humberto Janeiro, revealed in a television interview that she never slept with him during their nine years together. Naranjo spoke with journalist Alex Alvarez on the Telecinco program El verano se mueve, hosted by Ion Aramendi, after maintaining a quiet public profile since Janeiro died in August 2020. Before airing the interview on Thursday, Aramendi said the conversation was filled with explosive headlines.
Janeiro was previously married to Carmen Bazan, who asked for a divorce in 2003 after growing tired of public scrutiny surrounding his constant infidelities. Bazan remained silent for ten years before describing the ordeal she suffered alongside Janeiro, who was the father of her children Jesulin de Ubrique, Humberto Janeiro, Victor Janeiro, and Carmen Janeiro. Naranjo entered Janeiro's life after the divorce and stayed with the patriarch of Ambiciones until his death.
Marriage and Infidelity Claims
During the interview, Naranjo stated that she was never in love with Janeiro and only stayed with him out of pity. She said intimacy between them was non-existent because his health problems and diabetes prevented him from being with women. Naranjo added that she spent their nine years of marriage sleeping on a couch so that Janeiro could sleep well, causing lasting damage to her back.
Naranjo described herself as a foolish person who acted as Janeiro's servant by choice, despite her family and cousins asking why she stayed with an older man when she was worth a lot. She explained that she could not bring herself to leave him because he would come home crying and tell her that he was nothing without her. She also accused Janeiro of being unfaithful to her with other women during their time together.
Rejection and Hospital Care
Naranjo clarified that Janeiro did not leave Bazan for her, claiming he had relationships with 40,000 women and recounted stories about all of them to her. She stated that six years after his death, she feels nothing for him, does not miss him at all, and feels sick when she remembers him. She acknowledged that while he did not physically abuse or insult her, he had not been good to her.
When Alvarez asked why her current comments contradicted her past public praise and defense of Janeiro, Naranjo explained that her representative had instructed her to say she missed him. She maintained that she would not return to him under any circumstances and suggested his children should care for him now. Naranjo stated that none of Janeiro's children were willing to stay overnight with him in the hospital, leaving her to handle all hospital stays while he begged her not to leave his side.
