After the two-year hiatus caused by the covid-19 pandemic, Ivete Sangalo returned to the lead of the revelry and kicked off Salvador’s carnival this Thursday afternoon, the 16th public present at the Farol da Barra, at the event marking l official start of the revelry in the capital of Bahia.
“I am very moved and grateful for the opportunity for us to be able to jump back to the Carnival, to be able to meet, recover the relationship we have with each other. I thank God and the orixás for this opportunity to be in Salvador, Bahia, making Veveta popcorn,” he said.
The party was also marked by the official delivery of the keys to the city, made by Mayor Bruno Reis (PT), to King Momo of Salvador, Alan Nery. “You hand over the key and I hand over everything,” Ivete joked.

The singer made an invitation: “Brazil, come and see what the real carnival is like.” Afterwards, he started singing the 2020 hit The world goes. The audience responded and sang along. The Salvador Carnival opening ceremony was broadcast live on TV Globo.
Long before the start of the show, which started punctually at 16:00, the crowd was already invading Farol da Barra in an atmosphere of great anxiety. And, when the singer came face to face with the trio, there was no one who could hold back the excitement. It was possible to see revelers with teary eyes and many people trembling at the return of the revelry.
But, despite the initial excitement, it was joy that took over the sea of people. In a festive atmosphere, the audience responded promptly to all interactions made by Veveta. The report found no unrest and confusion.

Tribute to Preta Gil
Between one hit and another, the singer Ivete Sangalo showed all his affection for his friend Preta Gil. “Preta Gil, I dedicate my Carnival to you. I love you very much,” she said. Preta canceled all her participation in the 2023 spree to take care of her health, dedicating herself to curing bowel cancer.
Ivete also praised the black woman’s father, Gilberto Gil. In addition to defining the artist as “Brazil’s greatest singer” and its main “idol”, ‘Vveta’ also thanked him “for one of the most beautiful gifts you gave me, which is my Pretinha Gil”. Then she said, “Next year you’ll be here at this ass-kicking carnival.”
