Diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, actor Bruce Willis’ health continues to deteriorate and, according to a distant cousin, he no longer recognizes his mother, Marlene Willis.
The actor announced his retirement last year after being diagnosed with aphasia. But, two weeks ago, family members of the star who clocked up time on ‘During Hard’ and ‘The Sixth Sense’ went public to report that the condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.
In an interview with the German magazine Bild, Wifried Gliem, cousin of the actor’s mother, confided that she “isn’t sure if her son recognizes her”. She further stated that “his movements are very slow, with constant aggression. It is no longer possible to carry on a normal conversation. This behavior is typical of patients suffering from the same condition”.
Bruce received support and monitoring from his entire family, including ex-wife Demi Moore, who even admitted that the actor had a speech impediment, which led to his early retirement, at the age of 67.
The actor, who had been actively working, left some unfinished business. His latest completed feature, the thriller ‘Assassin’ will be released on VOD on March 31 in the US.
