The actress Regina Duarte had to apologize this Thursday (2/3) after sharing a xenophobic video of the Bolsonarista councilor Sandro Fantinel, from Caxias do Sul, speaking of the discovery of forced slavery in the region’s wineries. According to him, the only culture of the “Bahians” enslaved in the cellars was “living on the beach playing the drums”. “Producers, here’s a piece of advice: don’t hire those people upstairs anymore,” she exclaimed, criticizing slaves for not wanting slavery.
On social media, the Bolsonarist actress apologized and declared that she did not have “enough background” to talk about the subject: “From the interpretations I received regarding my post with the intervention of councilor Sandro Fantinel, I sought more information on the case of the Rio Grande do Sul wineries and I now apologize for having addressed a topic on which I do not have enough background. Anyone who knows me and follows me here knows that it would never be like me to support xenophobia, prejudice and social injustice”, he denounced Regina.
The former special secretary for culture recalled her life trajectory and stressed that she is the daughter of a man from the north-east. “My history has shown that Brazilians, for me, are loved in their entirety and I would never advocate discrimination against my brothers from the Northeast. from the ‘pau de macaw’ of the Northeast to Rio de Janeiro at work” , he stressed.
Regina declared that sharing the councilor’s intervention, she wanted to propose a discussion on her profile on xenophobia and labor law. “I heard it was the speech of a farmer who defends his work to help reduce unemployment in the country. I hope that Justice, in compliance with labor laws, agrees with those who deserve it. The most important thing now is to use this debate to seek more educational opportunities and consequent respect for Brazilian producers/farmers and employees”.
