UFC fighter assumes bisexuality after leaking intimate video on networks

“It’s not how I wanted it to be, but the ability to do it when it’s ready has been taken away from me,” said Jeff Molina.

Fighter Jeff Molina came out as bisexual on social media after an intimate video leaked online on Friday. The athlete has been suspended since UFC for involving his name in sports betting schemes late last year.

In the post published on the official ‘Twitter’ account, the athlete lamented why he had to open his sexuality to everyone after exposing his personal life without her consent. Molina also said that he does not intend to publicly address the issue at this time, mainly because he lives in a largely homophobic environment.

The American also reiterated that he doesn’t intend to be recognized for being the “gay UFC fighter”, but for his talent in the octagon. In the post, he thanked all the support from fans and people who identified with the situation.

In his last fight before being suspended in June of last year when he overcame Zhalgas Zhumagulov by split decision, Jeff Molina had already signaled his support for the LGBTQIA+ community. He even wore UFC Pride Month special edition shorts in the fight. However, sexuality was still a secret to the mainstream media.

At the time, Molina even faced prejudice from viewers for using the accessory in support of the LGBTQIA+ cause. The American even responded to the insults by displaying disbelief with some attitude from sports fans. Subsequently, the fighter becomes the first UFC male athlete to admit that he is bisexual in the history of the organization.

the declaration

“It’s not how I wanted to, but the ability to do it when I’m ready has been taken from me. I’ve tried to keep my private life away from social media. I’ve dated women all my life and I’ve hushed up the feelings I’ve had at the high school while I was there, on the wrestling team, and then competing in MMA, and even later when I fulfilled my dream of making it to the UFC.

The idea that my friends, training partners, and people I admire would look at me differently for something I can’t control and can’t understand. In a sport like this, where most of the fans are homophobic, I haven’t seen myself faced with a situation like this for most of my career. I wanted to be remembered for my skills, which I have dedicated myself to for the last 11 years of my life and not for being “the bisexual fighter of the UFC”, which I’m sure will translate as “the gay fighter of the UFC”.

For the awful, distraught person who decided to make this post, I hope it was worth it. At the end of the day, I know my character, my morals and who I am. As much as I get hate, I get the same amount of support and that means a lot to me.”
