Comedian Juca Chaves dies at the age of 84


Musician and comedian, Juca Chaves died this Saturday in Salvador, where he spent the last decades with his family

the comedian Juca Chaves passed away this Saturday, 03/25, in Salvador, after spending 15 days in hospital. The family of the artist, who also introduced himself as a songwriter, did not disclose details of the treatment, but confirmed that the cause of his death was respiratory problems.




“São Rafael Hospital regrets the death of patient Juca Chaves on Saturday night (25) due to complications from respiratory problems and sympathizes with his family and friends for this irreparable loss. More details”, reads the statement

The comedian started his professional career in 1955, in Tupi TV, and has held various jobs since then. As a songwriter, he wrote the hits ‘A Cúmplice’, ‘Menina’, ‘Que Saudade’ AND ‘President bossanova’.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Juca he has spent the last few decades living in Salvador, next to his wife Yara Chaveswith whom he had been married since 1975. As a result of this relationship, Chaves leaves two daughters, Maria Chiara AND Maria Morena.
