How the stars of the cult ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy have changed 30 years later

Michael J Fox played 17-year-old high school student Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy at age 24. At the end of the last film, the difference between the real age of the actor and his character exceeded the decade! At the time of the premiere of the third part, J. Fox was 29 years old, he was already married to actress Tracy Pollan and raised a son (in total, the couple had four children). And then, in 1991, doctors discovered that Michael had Parkinson’s disease. Usually this disease affects people over 60, but it overtook Michael in his youth. The disease is still incurable, it progresses slowly, but it can be stabilized with the help of medication. Over time, the patient’s movements slow down, a “blur” of speech appears, a “frozen look”, balance is disturbed, pain occurs when walking, insomnia and chronic depression.

“How would you describe my illness? – Ironic Michael. “Imagine that a four-year-old is constantly trying to climb on top of you. He clings to your arms, your legs, climbs onto your shoulders. And whatever you do, he always keeps trying. And you have to be careful , trying to focus on what you’re doing.”

From the second half of the 1990s, Michael practically stopped acting in films, but continued to appear in television series (Spin City, Clinic, The Good Wife) and engaged in voice acting. Michael’s last major film role was Mars Attacks in 1996, he also appeared in Route 60: Road Stories.

The performer of the role of the bright and strange professor Emmett Brown, after the completion of the fantasy trilogy, continued to actively act: every year films with his participation came out – and came out. But still, the actor’s finest hour was working in the Zemeckis project. In the comedy A Million Ways to Lose Your Head, Christopher Lloyd traveled back in time for a few minutes, again playing his doctor hero, who found himself in the reality of another Wild West story.

Leah began her acting career, leaving professional ballet at the age of 20. At first, the entertainer starred in fast food commercials and music videos, but she got a chance to step into Back to the Future, where she played the mother of her peer, Michael J. Fox. By the way, Leah’s daughter, Zoey Deutch, is also a successful actress.

Glover was even younger than his screenwriting wife and son, but at the same time quite a popular actor. For example, Glover starred in the drama Riverside with Keanu Reeves.

After completing the trilogy, the actor works mainly in episodes, and also writes fiction books, music and collects mystical objects – the actor owns a semi-abandoned 17th century mansion in Prague.

Bonhomme Wilson himself has already endured humiliation from school bullies, so he portrayed his hero as the most obnoxious guy. In the 2000s, the actor began to appear less often, and a new hobby appeared in his life: Wilson began to sing in the church choir! Another talent of the artist is photography and painting, his works are often exhibited.

Unfortunately, the actress who played the daughter of the protagonist participated only in the first part of the trilogy – drug addiction prevented her from working in the other two films. The girl did not manage to resume her acting career, and she ended up in business. Claudia owns a fashion retailer in Los Angeles.

Shu played Marty’s girlfriend in two parts of the trilogy. At that time, the actress did not have much experience filming feature films, but for her role in the iconic 80s film Karate Kid, Elizabeth received the Young Actor Award. Shu became very popular in the United States, but the actress failed to achieve worldwide fame.
