The dog is man’s best friend. And his love for his master is unconditional and unlimited. Action hero Sylvester Stallone proved by his own example that a person is capable of much for the sake of his beloved pet. Take out your handkerchief – this story will make you cry.
In 1971, the 25-year-old was still an aspiring and not very successful actor working odd jobs. Sylvester received small roles in the theater or in television series, but there was no need to talk about a stable income. Stallone admitted that he only had decent pants and shoes with holes. Once the actor’s personal financial crisis reached such proportions that he was not enough to feed himself. And the actor had to sell his dog named Butkus, who was still a puppy at the time, for $40 to fill the fridge with something.
The decision was given to Sly hard – the dog was his most faithful friend in these difficult times.
“He put up with my temper and was the only living being who loved me for who I was,” Sylvester later admitted.
