For the first time, Yuri Kara took on the film adaptation of the “demonic” novel in Russia in 1993, but due to a quarrel with the producers over the duration of the film, the finished work remained on the shelf for 17 years. An abridged version was released in the cinema only in 2011. But Vladimir Bortko’s series did not gather dust in the studio and was released on time – in 2005. Over the next seven years, 10 actors of the project were died tragically one after the other.

5 actor deaths in a row

On October 2, 2005, shortly before the series premiere, 47-year-old Alexander Chaban died. The actor played the investigator who conducted Woland’s search. The artist’s body was found in his apartment and the circumstances of the death remained unclear. In September 2006, another actor in the episode died – Pavel Komarov, who played the thief on the pier. The same year, Stanislav Landgraf dies of a heart attack, he plays the critic of Latunsky.

On April 27, 2007, Kirill Lavrov, who played Pontius Pilate, died of leukemia. On the same day, another episodic actor Yevgeny Merkuriev died. He fell through the ice while fishing.

Alexander Abdulov died two years after the first

Alexander Abdulov played Koroviev, a demon from Woland’s sequel. Two years after the premiere, the actor became a father for the first time: in March 2007, lawyer Yulia Meshina gave birth to a daughter, Zhenya. And five months later, Abdulov underwent emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer, after which he began to have heart problems. The actor’s condition worsened, and in September 2007, the actor was diagnosed with lung cancer in the fourth stage. Abdulov died on January 3, 2008, three months before his only daughter’s first birthday.

Loss and death of Valery Zolotukhin

In 2007, Zolotukhin, who played the role of Nikanor Barefoot in the series, lost his son. The soloist of the rock band “Dead Dolphins” Sergei Zolotukhin hanged himself in his home. After 5 years, the artist himself dies: he dies at the age of 71 from brain cancer.

Death of Andrei Tolubeev, voice actor

On April 7, 2008, Andrei Tolubeev died of pancreatic cancer – he was 63 years old. The actor voiced the character of Aloisy Mogarych, a journalist who wrote a denunciation of the Master.

Death of Vladislav Galkin

Galkin, who played poet Ivan Homeless, died in 2010 aged 38 from cardiac arrest. Doctors involved in the autopsy made an unequivocal conclusion: Galkin’s body was exhausted due to nervous exhaustion and alcohol abuse.

Death of Ilya Oleinikov

On November 11, 2012, Ilya Oleinikov, who played Variety’s CFO Grigory Rimsky, died of lung cancer. The actor was 65 years old.
